SNØHETTA: ALPINE ICONS WITH GLOBAL CREDENTIALS
Snøhetta is a transdisciplinary studio based in Norway, where architecture, landscape, interiors, product, graphic and digital design converge into holistic projects. Named after a Norwegian mountain, the practice has long embodied the spirit of encounters and exchange. Its international breakthrough came in 1989 with the Bibliotheca Alexandrina in Egypt, followed by landmarks including the Oslo Opera House and New York’s 9/11
Memorial Pavilion. Today, with projects spanning continents and disciplines, Snøhetta brings its global perspective and deep-rooted passion for the mountains to the Swiss Alps.
Design With Intension
Residences range from studio hideaways to multi-level penthouses, each serviced to exemplary hotel standards. Owners will enjoy 24-hour concierge, private dining, personal chefs and Alpine floristry. And a hotel rental programme will support those seeking return on their investment, although this is as much a lifestyle proposition as a financial one.
Sustainability runs as a thread throughout. The building’s facade features a bespoke solar skin, while heating is provided via a climate-neutral local system. “Architecture can frame a way of living,” says Snøhetta’s Marcus Baumann. “Here, it’s not about opulence, but light, space and serenity. The luxury of peace.”
A Place For People with Alpine Passion
Tom Rendell, Chief Marketing Officer of Andermatt Swiss Alps, sums up the ethos: “The Alpinist channels Andermatt’s dramatic Alpine character, rooted in sport and tradition, while embracing its role as a global destination. It’s where Alpine culture meets a modern outlook, a community united by a love of the mountains.”
And that, perhaps, is The Alpinist’s greatest allure. It’s destined to be a meeting place for a diverse international community who are drawn together by raw landscapes, changing weather and the unique energy of life lived at altitude.
