In winter, the snow-sure region is inviting for skiing, freeriding, snowshoe trekking, sledging and much more. 180 kilometres of slopes and 33 lifts climbing as high as 3,000 metres are waiting for you at the newly linked winter sport destination Andermatt+Sedrun+Disentis, Central Switzerland’s largest ski resort.

From classical music performances to rock or schlager concerts and spectacular open-air theatre shows, Andermatt offers a bevy of cultural activities. Andermatt Concert Hall, seating over 650, is a key cultural amenity.

Lex Koller exemption

International buyers can purchase apartments and houses in Andermatt Reuss without a permit and without limitation and resell them with no minimum holding time.

By decision of the Swiss government taken on 21 December 2007, Andermatt Swiss Alps AG was granted a blanket exemption from the "Lex Koller" permit requirement. "Lex Koller" is the informal name for the Swiss Federal Act of 16 December 1983 on the acquisition of real estate by persons abroad. In general, persons abroad must apply for a permit before acquiring real estate in Switzerland. Andermatt Reuss is exempt from this regulation. This exemption will remain in force at least until the end of 2030.

In addition, all holiday apartments of Andermatt Swiss Alps AG are exempt from the Swiss Second Home Law. This law restricts the construction of second homes in a municipality to a percentage of the total number of residences.

Switzerland is traditionally known for its favourable tax policies, with high legal security, political stability and low tax rates. Within Switzerland, the canton of Uri enjoys a leading position with regard to low tax rates. The maximum income tax rate* in Uri is the second lowest in Switzerland, and nearly half that of Italy, Germany, France or Great Britain. What’s more, the canton of Uri has no inheritance or gift taxes.
