How we plan to achieve our sustainability goals
The destination Andermatt thrives because of pristine nature and the impressive mountain environment. With its sustainability strategy, Andermatt Swiss Alps is committed to ensuring that coming generations will also find an extraordinary home in the Urseren Valley. In addition, Andermatt Swiss Alps makes an active contribution toward the careful use of resources.
Reducing our carbon footprint
Andermatt Swiss Alps powers ski lifts and snow-making equipment in a climate-neutral manner. Its hotels have been built in accordance with low-energy standards. It purchases CO₂-neutral heat and electricity to operate them. The Andermatt Swiss Alps Group is striving to further reduce its carbon footprint and energy consumption in the coming years on a continual basis and to be climate-neutral in its operations by 2030. In addition, several projects are under way to reduce waste. Our aim is to work in a way that preserves resources as far as possible. That helps to eliminate greenhouse gases, too. By expanding the infrastructure for electro-mobility and reducing the number of vehicles that run on fossil fuels, we are seeking to initiate change internally.
Assuming social responsibility
Andermatt Swiss Alps has created more than 500 jobs at its three locations in Altdorf, Andermatt, and Sedrun. We have a sustainable personnel strategy, offer equal opportunity, and support training and career planning. In addition, we intend to further increase the number of apprenticeship and internship positions and positions for people with special needs. At the same time, we are firmly committed to raising the proportion of women in the company as a whole, particularly on the executive level, as well as the number of local workers. In that way, we are enhancing diversity within the company.
Ensuring long-term profitability
We are continuously increasing our efficiency by finding and exploiting synergies within the Andermatt Swiss Alps Group and Orascom Development Holding. In addition, we practice active innovation management for far-sighted business planning. One focus in this respect is on digitalisation, which we are intensively pressing ahead with.
