The Chedi Andermatt
Five-star deluxe in sustainability

Explore

Wood and natural stone are the predominant materials at the five-star deluxe hotel in Andermatt. They stand for the values we espouse here: responsible treatment of resources and a sustainable economy.

Good atmosphere. Good conscience

The Chedi Andermatt was built in line with the low-energy standard. Systematic air exchange and purification ensures good oxygen quality. Heat is recovered wherever possible. For instance, we heat the floor in the spa with waste heat from the cooling equipment.

The Chedi Andermatt is heated entirely with carbon-neutral district heating . The wood chips are sourced from the canton of Uri and from a sawmill in Airolo, meaning a transport distance of less than 50 kilometres. We obtain all power from hydroelectric stations and wind turbines in the Gotthard
region.

Wellness. With natural products

Our laundry is washed by Wäscherei Heinzmann AG . We send some of the laundry by rail to nearby Raron.

Our partnership with SapoCycle pocycle.org/helps to give soap a second life: Remnants are processed to make new bars of soap, which are distributed to people in need. In addition, all of our cosmetics at The Spa & Health Club are made of natural ingredients.

Instead of cut flowers, we put potted plants in the rooms. This spares resources and cuts down on delivery travel.

Waste.Reducing and recycling

At The Restaurant and at the staff restaurant, all food waste is collected and then identified and quantified by means of artificial intelligence. That way, we reduce food waste.

We separate all waste and recycle it whenever possible. Where possible, we purchase our food locally and in reusable containers in order to avoid packaging and plastic.

Electricity is generated from green waste and grease traps material. We coordinate disposal with the nearby Radisson Blu Hotel Reussen in order to reduce driving distances and optimise loads.

Fair.To employees

The employees of The Chedi Andermatt have fair wages, contemporary employment terms in line with the market, and social insurance. People of all age groups and genders enjoy equal rights at The Chedi Andermatt. The Chedi Andermatt offers its employees flexible working models. It encourages and supports continuing education and language courses.

Regional.Rooted

The Chedi Andermatt employs more than 300 people. We are a training operation for cooks and restaurant and hotel managers and offer internships for students as well as protected jobs for reintegration into working life. We also work with the Swiss Red Cross to hire political refugees.

Swisstainable.Engaged in the long term

The Chedi Andermatt is participating in the Swisstainable programme by Switzerland Tourism. Thereby we are committing ourselves to sustainable corporate governance and continual enhancement in terms of sustainability. All of our Group’s companies achieved Level II (engaged), and the Andermatt Golf Course even Level III (leading).
