Andermatt Concert Hall turns two years old

June 16, 2021

Andermatt Concert Hall opened on 16 June 2019 with a magnificent concert by the Berlin Philharmonic conducted by Constantinos Carydis. Since then, the venue has hosted international musicians and comedians and in its first two years has also enjoyed success as a congress centre and cinema venue.

Andermatt Concert Hall was designed by Studio Seilern Architects led by Christina Seilern, and built by Andermatt Swiss Alps and BESIX (Belgium). With seating for around 650, the auditorium offers an intimate atmosphere and features an extremely flexible stage with space for a 75-piece orchestra.

A platform for exceptional talent

Alongside international music stars, this state-of-the-art concert hall in the year-round destination of Andermatt also showcases up-and-coming musicians in Andermatt Music ’s Young Artist Concert Programme. Concerts featuring emerging classical talents are held monthly. Other festival series, such as the Swiss Alps Classics and the Gotthard Classical Music Festival , regularly bring musicians whose fame extends beyond national borders to Andermatt.

First ever resident orchestra and a new musical director

From 1 January, the Swiss Orchestra , founded by Lena-Lisa Wüstendörfer, will become Andermatt Concert Hall’s first ever resident orchestra. Swiss conductor Wüstendörfer will also be stepping into the role of musical director with Andermatt Music. This means that events will be held at the Andermatt Concert Hall throughout the year. Andermatt Music aims to position itself as both a magnet for classical music fans and guests from around the world as well as a cultural centre within Switzerland.

Conferences and entertainment

Andermatt is the perfect location for your meeting or conference. The concert hall is ideal for events such as seminars, celebrations and conferences. A number of comedy nights featuring nationally known comedians, cinema events and film festivals have already been held there. The Radisson Blu Reussen also offers a number of meeting rooms for all requirements.
