SkiArena Andermatt-Sedrun now opening valley descent on Gemsstock

November 11, 2021

Owing to the excellent snow conditions and the additional artificial snow, the valley descent on Gemsstock is being opened on Saturday. This means that on the third weekend of operations, about 20 kilometres of pistes will now be available, with a vertical drop of 1,500 metres.

Snow farming has made it possible to have the slopes open since late October. On the upcoming third weekend of winter operations, the range of options is being expanded further. With the opening of the descent to the valley and other pistes, guests can now choose from among a wide selection of slopes, ranging from 1,453 to 2,962 metres above sea level.

A new feature: members of the GotthardMemberClub (holders of an annual pass for Andermatt-Sedrun-Disentis) can reserve trips on the gondola (first section of Gemsstock) between 8:30 a.m. (8:00 a.m. in the case of early operation) and 10:00 a.m. One third of transport capacity is being set aside for these reservations. Initial experiences have shown that this can generally reduce waiting times. Moreover, the waiting rooms for guests without a reservation can be moved outside, thus reducing the Covid restrictions.
