Re-opening of Restaurant Teufelsbrücke with “Der Freundeskreis”

May 11, 2023

Zurich pop-up gastronomes "Der Freundeskreis" will take over the historic Teufelsbrücke restaurant in the Schöllenen Gorge from 21 June 2023 to 17 September 2023 in collaboration with Andermatt Swiss Alps AG. With the programme "The Circle of Friends in the Devil's Circle", there is a culinary experience four days a week for a maximum of 40 guests each time.

For seven years, the makers of "Freundeskreis Pop-up" have been touring Switzerland's craziest locations. They have already delighted well over 20,000 guests with their temporary use projects. The project was founded by chef Alexander Jakob and TV presenter Maximilian Baumann. After the two friends realised their first interim use in a demolition house in the city of Zurich in 2016, projects followed in an open-plan office, a moving ship, a work yard, a former radio studio, the ZSG ship's value and many other locations.

“Der Freundeskreis” is predominantly about dining with friends. The slogan "We are friends who enjoy making friends happy" hits the nail on the head. With their menu - which consists of four to five courses each - and hospitality that you can otherwise only experience at friends' homes, they make every evening a culinary experience.

In the "Circle of Friends in a Vicious Circle", top chef and author of the book "Ten Seasons - Cooking with Primordial Products" David Krüger will cook a hand-crafted menu for the maximum of 40 guests in the restaurant in Andermatt every Wednesday to Saturday from 21 June. All guests will eat at the same time. The whole team will be introduced personally to those present; those who want more of a course can get it directly from the chef in the kitchen.

The project "Circle of Friends in the Vicious Circle" was developed in cooperation with Andermatt Swiss Alps AG. The idea behind the concept is based on bringing the time-honoured building back to life.
